Wild Amelia’s 2019-20 monthly nature forum series—Wild Nites—will begin on Tuesday, September 10th, at 7pm at the Peck Center, 516 S. 10th Street in Fernandina, with a very timely presentation on “Sea Rise along the Southeast Coast.”

The guest speaker will be Dr. Andrea Dutton, a visiting Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the Department of Geoscience. Her research focus is to establish the behavior of sea level and polar ice during warm periods to better inform us about future sea-level rise. Dr. Dutton works hard to communicate her research to the public. She has been featured in popular media ; she is a Fellow of the Geological Society and was recently awarded a Fulbright Scholar Award.

All islanders should be concerned about this topic; bring your questions and concerns.

Future Wild Nite topics include environmental effects of pollution on sharks and fish, sea turtles, right whales,
Egan’s Creek Greenway, bats, shorebirds, connecting with sea turtles, and the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. There’s a lot to learn every month!

Wild Nites are just one of many educational programs for adults and children offered by Wild Amelia, an all-volunteer nonprofit. For more information, please visit wildamelia.org and Wild Amelia on Facebook.
