The Amelia light shines!

Thank you Coast Guard and all those responsible for your efforts to get our beloved Amelia Island Lighthouse shining again.  Amelia Island’s Lighthouse has been dark for six months. In mid March of 2017 during a routine dusting by the local Coast Guard Auxiliary team, one of the twelve bulls-eyes fell out of the 115 year old Fresnel Lens forcing the Coast Guard to stop the rotation and turn off the light.

Oh, happy day! Now ALL the lights are back on, on Lighthouse Circle and our whole island–a much-needed boost post-Irma. Thanks to all who made this little miracle happen, and to The Observer for keeping us informed. Bravo!
