This photo of Egans Creek was taken today, October 7 at 7:18 a.m. Don’t be fooled by the color blue! The skies are gray in Fernandina.

For those of you wondering what the conditions are in Fernandina Beach this morning, we are experiencing a steady rain, and wind gusts.  I have no idea if this is the beginning of Matthew, or still winds and rain from the northeaster that has been off our shores.  Current conditions are not alarming for our coastal community, yet!

There is no doubt with the  ground so saturated, we will lose of lot of trees as Hurricane Matthew passes us by.

The good news is that the weather forecast is much improved.   We expect a Category 3 or less.   The storm surge is expected to be as high as 9 feet.

A 6:45 a.m. a robo call from state officials warned me  to seek shelter.  I will and  thank you for the warning!

IF anyone can safely make it to the 14th st bridge this evening or tomorrow morning and let me know how Egans Creek Marina made out. Our home (boat) is docked there and it was PAINFUL to leave yesterday…..
