Impersonating a law enforcement officer and theft

Sheriff 2On 05/11/2014 during early morning hours at Peter’s Point beach access, on Amelia Island, three suspects impersonated law enforcement narcotic officers and illegally searched a victim and his vehicle.

During the vehicle search, the suspects stole the victim’s handgun. The suspects left in a Honda Civic Silver or White with a Georgia tag.

The three suspects involved were described to be two white males and one white female. The female had blond/light brown hair and possibly in her early 20’s. One of the males had a shaved head and tattoos, possibly late 20’s-early 30’s in age.

The second male suspect was identified and was arrested in Canton, Georgia on an outstanding warrant from NCSO. Gregory Travis Shields, 32, from Fernandina Beach, was arrested by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office on Friday, May 16, 2014. He is waiting transfer back to Nassau County to be booked into the Nassau County Detention Facility.

Update* the other male suspect has been arrested in Cobb County Georgia. He is Jeremy Allen Sanger, 32 years of age from Oak Hill, West Virginia. No arrest yet on the female.
