Hearing Canceled, CARD and ATC Remain in Riverstone Suit

Attorneys for both Nassau County and Riverstone have agreed that Amelia Tree Conservancy (ATC) and Citizens Against Runaway Development (CARD) have standing to contest the County/Riverstone plans for the south end of our island.

They have agreed to withdraw their motions to dismiss and have asked the judge to cancel the hearing scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 12.

CARD and ATC intend to continue the litigation against the County/Riverstone team to set aside the agreement they negotiated last April. That agreement gave Riverstone the green light to go ahead with 11 towers at least 85 feet high, promised Riverstone immunity from future zoning changes, and gave Riverstone $250,000 of county money.

The announcement was made by:

Grateful that this atrocity is still not a “ go”! THANK YOU to those who continue to fight the necessary fight, despite what our pathetic state government has placed in our way to prevent us from protecting this VITAL property! Special provisions to “satisfy” these greedy developers are easily made but NEVER to appease those of us who are SICK of seeing the trees destroyed and wildlife habitat gone. Enough is enough!!
