FOUR FROM HOME – Four local veterans are going on a once-in-a life time journey and will row a 3,000 mile trek across the Atlantic Ocean from the Canary Islands to Antigua in December 2021. The team is using the sport of ocean rowing to raise awareness for issues associated with PTSD and veteran suicide.

Four From Home will represent four of the five branches of the United States Armed Services. Billy Cimino is a Veteran of the United States Army, Cameron Hansen is a Veteran of the United States Air Force, Hupp Huppmann is a Veteran of the United States Navy, and Paul Lore is a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

The journey will involve an unsupported row, which will not be easy for anyone of our local veterans. The rowers will experience extreme bouts of seasickness, salt sores, sleep deprivation, hand blisters, exhaustion and being confined to a 26 foot by 5 foot ocean row boat for up to 60-days in the vast Atlantic Ocean. The rowers will have to make there own water during the entire trip and also be dependent on pre-packed dehydrated food. To sustain their energy each rower will need to consume at least 5,600 calories per day. The rowers will be on a two-hour rowing schedule 24-hours a day for possibly up to 60-days. More folks have climbed Mt Everest than rowed an ocean and more folks have traveled into space than rowed an ocean. This journey will be a grueling personal test of mental and physical strength for each one of our local veteran rowers.

The team is officially kicking off their fundraising campaign to raise $500,000 on January 25, 2020, and will be attending a BBQ lunch at the American Legion Post 54 located at 626 S 3rd Street Fernandina Beach, Florida. The lunch is sponsored by Cross The Line Foundation and will be held from 12pm to 5pm with music performed by Hupp and Ray Between 2-4pm. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under. Lunch will be provided by SMOKE N DA COCKPIT and all proceeds will be donated to Cross The Line Foundation, which is a nonprofit organization devoted to helping veterans with ‘now’ needs.
