The performance marks the third stop on her U.S. tour of Mutter’s Beethoven Year Anniversary Recital

Anne-Sophie Mutter, universally hailed as one of the greatest violinists of the modern era, will perform at the inaugural concert of the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival’s 2020 season on January 24.

Ms Mutter’s Amelia Island performance marks the third stop in her U.S. tour of her Beethoven Year anniversary recitals. She will play Beethoven Sonatas for Violin and Piano, Nos. 4, 5 & 9, accompanied by pianist Lambert Orkis, one of the most respected American pianists with whom she has collaborated for 32 years. Ms Mutter and Mr. Orkis then will take their recital program for the Beethoven jubilee to China, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, Austria, Taiwan and other North American cities.

For more than 40 years, Anne-Sophie Mutter, a four-time Grammy winner, has been a fixture as a soloist on the stages of all of the world’s most important concert halls. Born in then-West Germany in 1963, Ms Mutter at age six won first prize in violin in a national competition for young musicians. Legendary conductor Herbert von Karajan became an early mentor, and in 1977 at age 13, she made her professional debut with von Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Since then, she has thrilled audiences throughout Europe, Asia and North and South America. A champion of modern music, Ms Mutter has performed the world premieres of 27 works by such noted composers as Sir André Previn, Wolfgang Rihm and John Williams.

Upcoming concerts in the Festival’s 2020 season include A Musical Carnival for Children of All Ages on February, followed by county and bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs on February 9.
