The Fernandina Beach Fire Department personnel assisted by Nassau County Fire Rescue responded to a commercial structure fire on Friday, January 30, 2016, at approximately 6:30 p.m. An emergency call placed to 911 dispatchers alerted them to the fire at 401 South 8th Street, Fernandina Beach, FL at the Democratic Headquarters.

Four engine companies, one ladder, ambulances and a Chief were dispatched to the blaze. Upon arrival, initial reports indicated heavy black smoke coming from the structure venting through the front door. Firefighters entered the structure and encountered severe smoke and fire conditions. The structure, valued at approximately $500,000.00, sustained $70,000.00 in damage.

No occupants were injured in the fire, and no firefighters were injured extinguishing the fire. The business was closed at the time of the fire. Occupants of the adjacent businesses were unable to return to their business due to damage to the utilities. No other businesses in the center were damaged by the fire. Fire personnel used specialty fans to exhaust smoke from the other stores in the center.

Fire officials urge every business and resident to check their smoke detectors to ensure they are properly maintained, have fresh batteries, and are working in the event of a fire. Detectors provide vital notification of a fire, especially at night, and may allow you and your patrons the precious seconds needed to get out of a burning structure.

The fire was reported completely out at 7:06 p.m. The cause of the blaze is undetermined at this time, but is under investigation by the Fernandina Beach Fire Marshal’s office.

Please refer additional questions regarding the investigation to the Fernandina Beach Fire Department.

Given the nature of this office, Democratic Headquarters in our area – with significant Federal voting rights overtones – it’s going to be interesting to see where the Fire Marshall goes with this.

Given the Fact that the Democratic Party is so impotent in Nassau County at this step in time. I Pretty much think ,we can roll out Political Shenanigans. But stranger things have happened.

Wouldn’t necessarily characterize this as a write off to “political shenanigans” as usual, given today’s national political dysfunction. It all “depends”. Watching how this unfolds.4

I’m surprised it isn’t being suggested that Bush did it.
