An early evening fire occurred at the Nassau County Democratic Headquarters on 401 S. 8th Street in Fernandina Beach. According to Carla Viosard, former chair of the Nassau County Democratic Party, the fire occurred between the hours of 6 and 7. Although an official determination has not been made, the cause of the fire appears to be electrical. Most of the damage was confined to the northeast corner of the building.

Although a printer and phone were destroyed, Viosard is hopeful computers located in another area of the building can be salvaged.

The Democratic headquarters is located within a strip mall that houses several businesses. All businesses suffered smoke damage.

“Not sure when we will be going again…But we will!,” said Viosard.

I hope the tattoo parlor next door wasn’t adversely impacted!! THAT would be a loss to the community.
