The Amelia Island Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) won a record seven awards for outstanding tourism marketing at VISIT FLORIDA’s annual Florida Governor’s Conference on Tourism. The CVB took top honors in the Mobile Marketing and Niche Marketing categories, accepting coveted Henry Award trophies during the conference’s opening night Flagler Awards ceremony, Monday night, August 28, at The Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood. The CVB also won three Silver Awards and two Bronze Awards for their marketing efforts. The seven awards are the most the CVB has won since the competition began in 2000.

“Florida is the world’s most competitive tourism marketplace, in part because of all the exceptionally talented marketers vying for attention in an increasingly crowded landscape,” said Gil Langley, president and CEO of the Amelia Island CVB. “These awards spotlight the efforts of our talented marketing team and industry partners, who year after year continue to create effective strategies that keep us in the fight.”

The CVB won Henry Awards for its “Connected Travelers” program (Mobile Marketing) and “Destination Dysfunction” campaign (Niche Marketing), elements of which were also awarded Silver (Internet Advertising) and Bronze (Television Advertising) Awards. The CVB also brought home Silver Awards in the Special Event category for the CVB’s sponsorship of the Yo-Yo Ma “Superstar Concert” produced by Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival; and in the Resource/Promotional Material – Trade category for their efforts producing the Verzauberte Insel Video for German Tour Operators. Additionally, their “All Day Amelia” program won a Bronze Award in the Websites category. This is the fifth consecutive year the CVB has won at least one Henry Award.

As the state’s annual tourism marketing competition, the Flagler Awards recognize Florida’s travel businesses and organizations that demonstrate outstanding tourism marketing efforts. Each year, the Flagler Awards honor many of the countless individuals and organizations that help position Florida as a premier travel destination and pay tribute to the determined efforts of those who help ensure the continued success of the state’s most important industry.
