Jeff Peterson will speak about “Sustainable Seafood” at Wild Amelia’s May 14th Wild Nite.

The ninth and final Wild Nite of Wild Amelia’ s 2018-19 series of monthly nature forums will be held on Tuesday, May 14 at 7pm at the Peck Center Auditorium, 516 S. 10th Street in Fernandina Beach. The topic will be “Sustainable Seafood,” and the guest speaker will be Jeff Peterson.

A resident of Fernandina Beach, Jeff is now an aquaculture auditor trainer and consultant. His almost 50-year career in aquaculture began in Boca Raton, Florida, and has included raising shrimp and fish in Hawaii, Ecuador, Mexico, Belize, and South Carolina. Jeff and his wife Teen raised three daughters in Ecuador where he managed a 1250 acre farm that raised three million pounds of shrimp annually.

Since 2002, Jeff has served as an auditor/inspector/trainer for the Best Aquatic Practices Division of the Global Aquaculture Alliance, which is dedicated to advancing environmentally and socially responsible aquaculture practices.

Wild Nites are one of Wild Amelia’s educational programs for adults and children, leading up to the annual three-day Wild Amelia Nature Festival, this year from May 17-19 at venues on and around Amelia Island. For more information, please visit WildAmelia.org and on Facebook.
