On Tuesday May 17th the North Florida Central Labor Council FL AFL-CIO held its endorsing panel at the labor council office in Jacksonville Florida.

Endorsements
Dr. Kathy Burns, candidate for Nassau  County School Superintendent and Klynt Farmer, candidate for Nassau County Commissioner District 5.

All of the candidates that are running for office here in Nassau County were mailed and invitation to attend along with a questionnaire. There were also candidates from Clay, St; Johns and Duval County .

The only candidates that attended from Nassau County were Klynt Famer who is running for County Commissioner and Dr. Kathy Knight Burns who is running for Superintendent.

Candidates were interviewed by the Central Labor Council members. They answered questions on numerous topics. The questions revolved around the specific duties they would have if elected to the office they are running for. There were also questions about Public Education, crime and growth to name a few.

At the end of the day, the Council voted on each individual who had spoken. As Vice President of the FL AFL-CIO and member of the North Florida Central Labor Council, I’d like to publicly announce that we unanimously endorsed Charles Cofer who is running for Public Defender in the 4th Judicial Circuit, Klynt Farmer for Nassau County Commissioner, and Dr. Kathy Knight Burns for Superintendent of Nassau County.

Tonight at a special called Nassau Educational Support Personnel Association (NESPA) Executive Board meeting, we the Non-Instructional Personnel for the Nassau County School Board endorsed Dr. Kathy Knight Burns for Superintendent of Nassau County.

The election of a new Superintendent will bring about much change. Some are afraid of change, but change is good. It is important for us, the support personnel, that the next Superintendent be a strong leader. One who can work along side us, be a good listener, willing to negotiate collaboratively, strive to bring about unity among those in the work place, and above all make the best decisions possible for the precious children that work with each and every day.
