Second Floor Gallery: Susan Henderson exhibiting Milli Fiori

Botanicals in watercolor and oil, exploring and exploiting the unique qualities of each medium from the transparency of watercolors to the brush strokes left behind in the plastic nature of oils. Each magnificent flower reflects how Henderson perceives the landscape around her.

Henderson holds a BFA in Painting, Drawing, and Graphics from Ohio State University. A member of numerous professional associations in the Southeast. She has exhibited in galleries and participated in juried shows on Amelia and across Florida.

Betty Francis Gallery: Laura Robinson exhibiting Avenue of Palms

To a Connecticut Yankee, palms are a silly excuse for a tree. But over time Robinson fell in love with their graceful lines, their ability to sway in the breeze but not break, and the frons which offer little shade but do so with great enthusiasm. Here, she presents palms as she envisions them, graceful, colorful, and not without their sense of humor. Painting on canvas with acrylic paint, she recreates the palm. After all, palms are not even trees.

Robinson studied fine arts at the Miami University (Ohio), and graphic design at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. She began her career as a commercial illustrator, and as an art director at ABC (American Broadcasting Company).

Robinson has spent half her life in Europe and Argentina. Solo exhibits in the Recoleta Museum, Borges Cultural Center, Lorento Arenas Art Gallery and the Normandina Museum at Mar del Plata. In Florida, group shows at the Miami Art Walk, Wynwood Warehouse, Project Basal; and the Space Gallery in Jacksonville.
