Monday, July 30, 2018 is the last day Nassau County voters can register to vote in the Primary Election, which will be held on August 28, 2018.

Partisan races for federal, state and local offices will appear on the ballot.  Additionally, the non-partisan local Nassau County School Board race will be decided at this time.  Candidates for open seats in that race include:

  • District 1:  Robin Lentz and incumbent Donna Martin
  • District 5:  Lissa Braddock and incumbent Jonathan Petree

The races for the following partisan races will also be decided in the primary.  All the candidates for the offices below are running as Republicans with no opposition from candidates from other parties or write-in candidates.  Therefore, all registered voters, regardless of party affiliation, can vote in these races:

Nassau County Commission District 2:  Aaron Bell vs. Dawn Hagel

Ocean, Highway and Port Authority races for

  • District 3:Scott Hanna vs incumbent Adam Salzburg
  • District 4:incumbent Carrol Franklin vs Jeanne Scott
  • District 5:Mike Cole vs John Van Delinder

Only registered Republicans will be able to vote in the primary for the District 4 Nassau County Commission seat because a write in candidate has also filed in that race. Whoever wins that primary race – incumbent George Spicer or challenger Thomas Ford – will face write-in candidate William Kruse in the November 6, 2018 General Election.

Complete information on how to register or how to change party affiliation appears on the Nassau County Supervisor of Elections website.

But if you don’t register by the close of business on July 30, you will not be able to vote in this year’s primary.
