Since the establishment of the Fernandina Beach Greenway in 2000, more and more people are enjoying the beauty of one of the City’s many recreational sites. The Greenway is frequently used by bicyclists, runners, walkers, and birders.

A viewing area now opened to the public provides a comfortable space, especially for individuals with mobility issues, to observe the beauty of the Greenway.

Are recent sightings of alligators, babies and grown, cause any concern to those responsible for a safe Greenway. Comments on Facebook have been the oooh and aaaah type comments on how cute the small alligators are and laud the beautiful wildlife.
I recall the incident at Disney where an alligator killed a small boy and relate that to our Greenway. We have unsuspecting and unwitting visitors who run a real risk from that same wildlife we love. So is anyone planning for that eventuality when relocation becomes a necessity for the public safety.
