Unique Custom Shop Tattooing To Raise Money for Sierra Club

DSC01509It’s called “Crustacean Donation.” Shell out $50, and you get a full color, custom-designed shrimp tattoo by Tiffany LeMeaux, artist and owner of Electric Mermaid Tattoo, the newest addition to downtown Fernandina Beach. In return, the Nassau County Sierra Club gets 20%.

LeMeaux, a native of Fernandina Beach, has twelve years experience as a custom tattoo artist. Her new studio, located at 8th North 2nd Street, just opened its doors at the end of February.

“I grew up here, and I care about this community,” LeMeaux says. “I love being able to give back to organizations that make it better, and I can do this with a beautiful tattoo.”

LeMeaux also owns Freaks and Geeks Tattoo, an award-winning custom tattoo shop in Asheville, North Carolina. LeMeaux’s charity work with Freaks and Geeks has raised more than $30,000 for Asheville non-profits, and she plans to continue fundraising with Electric Mermaid.

Each season, LeMeaux will rotate the organization benefiting from the “Crustacean Donation” campaign. The Nassau County Sierra Club will benefit until the first day of summer, when LeMeaux will select a new charity to support. She also has several benefits planned over the summer, with all proceeds going to local charities.

Maybe the Shrimp Festival can hold a “most unique shrimp tatoo” competition.
