Sharon Collins, a current Nassau County resident living in Fernandina Beach, has been named the new Executive Director for Take Stock in Children Nassau. Sharon will be filling the big shoes of long-time Program Director Jody Mackle who retired at the end of January.

Sharon will be responsible for recruitment, retention and training of 150 current mentors in addition to initiating new student support services and implementing resource development strategies to increase the number of students served.

Previously, Sharon was the Associate Director of Undergraduate Programs for the Davis College of Business at Jacksonville University. She was the project manager for the marketing and branding of the business college, including the recent Top 40 Business Students featured in Advantage Biz magazine. Sharon was also essential in the college being recognized by the Association to Advance Colleges of Schools of Business (AACSB) as having best practices for student and alumni engagement. She was involved in many professional organizations to promote opportunities for students including the Jacksonville Military Veterans Coalition (JMVC). Sharon worked with a JMVC subcommittee to establish an internship and mentoring program for student veterans of both public and private universities throughout Jacksonville. Sharon had many successes in corporate engagement initiatives that included scholarship and grant development and management, administration of college’s speakers’ series, and student employment and internships.

Sharon was an art teacher at Callahan Middle School in Nassau County for seven years prior to working at JU. There, she also taught reading and math remediation and was the yearbook advisor. In 2007, she was awarded the Golden Apple award by the Nassau County Record.

Sharon has a Master of Education in Leadership and Learning and Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from JU and a Bachelor of Art in Art Education from the University of North Florida.

Please join us as we whole-heartedly welcome Sharon Collins to the Take Stock in Children Nassau program!
