According to the Fernandina Beach Police Report, a Palace Saloon security guard reported an intoxicated individual identified as Gordon Jacob Songer from Yulee, Florida was sitting on a bench at 2nd and Centre Streets “trying to fight with whoever walked by him.”  After falling off the bench, Songer proceeded to a truck owned by Brandon Edward Allison and began “to punch and kick it.”  The security guard reported to police that Allison, told Songer to “stop damaging his truck 5 or 6 times.”

According to Allison’s comments in the police report, “Songer came toward [him] in an aggressive manner.” Songer took a fighting stance, so Allison “swung and struck Songer in the chin.”  The blow caused Songer to fall backwards and  hit his head on the sidewalk.

Well what I heard from my family that was there and sober. That driver that was “simply assisting” almost killed him after the man was already down he went up to him and slammed his head into the ground. He almost died and nothing is happening to this guy. I see that as attempted man slaughter.
