State of Emergency declared for Fernandina Beach

Effective 3:00 PM, today, September 1, 2016, a State of Emergency has been declared by Mayor John A. Miller. This declaration is in anticipation of Tropical Storm/Hurricane Hermine, the path of which may possibly and adversely impact the health, safety, and welfare of the people and property of the City of Fernandina Beach.

As a result of this declaration, City offices will be closed tomorrow, Friday, September 2. Critical staff will function in accordance with emergency management policies and practices.

This unscheduled storm day shall be treated as a holiday for the purposes of payroll. Staff who had previously requested leave time shall have the appropriate leave time restored. Hourly personnel needed for response/recovery purposes (at the discretion of Department Directors) shall be compensated for their on-call service.

Paychecks (scheduled to be distributed tomorrow) will be available to be picked-up at the Finance Office (Peck Center) until 5:00 PM today or between 1:00 PM- 3:00 PM tomorrow at the Finance Office.
