Rayonier Advanced Materials golf tournament raises $65,000 for United Way of Northeast Florida

Fernandina Beach, Fla., Dec. 16, 2016 – In its 12th year, Rayonier Advanced Materials’ annual golf tournament raised a record $65,302 for its longstanding nonprofit partner, United Way of Northeast Florida.

The United Way of Northeast Florida Charity Golf Tournament took place Oct. 22 at Omni Amelia Island Plantation. Organized by the Rayonier Advanced Materials (RYAM) Fernandina Beach Plant, more than 200 players participated this year including RYAM employees from Northeast Florida and South Georgia, RYAM vendors and business partners, United Way staff, friends and family.

The team sponsored by Envirovac Holdings came in first place on the Ocean Links Golf

“This is a passion project for us,” said Jeff Scott, RYAM’s senior project manager, who has organized the event for 12 years, with RYAM’s Rhonda Blake. “The tournament is a tremendous undertaking. It’s rewarding to know these efforts benefit the important work of local nonprofits right here in Fernandina Beach and Nassau County.”

Over the life of the event, the tournament has raised nearly $423,000 for United Way and its partner agencies.

“This is our home,” said C.A. McDonald, RYAM’s Fernandina plant general manager. “We live, work and raise our families here – and we believe in doing our part to strengthen this community. It’s a joy to partner with United Way and local nonprofits.”

The team sponsored by Control Southern came in first place on the Oak Marsh Golf
Course. The pictured team members were, from left, Matt Michaux and Tommy
Goad. The other team members were Joe Watson and Todd Hunt.

The funds raised through this golf tournament will help improve the lives of hardworking individuals and families in Fernandina Beach and across Nassau County through United Way and its partners.
