The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution has honored two Fernandina Beach women for their contributions to the community.

Major Baker served in Desert Storm, and her civilian career as a public health nurse took her to Africa, Asia, and South America, as well as the U.S.

Mrs. Carter directs the American Legion Girl’s State program for the district. In her role as ambassador for the Navy SEAL Foundation, she organizes the annual Joggin for Frogmen 5k on May 19th this year, the Patriot Day Ladies Luncheon on September 11th, and the Honoring the Fallen Golf Tournament on November 5th.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is the largest women’s service organization in the world and contributes over one million volunteer hours a year. The almost 200 members of the Amelia Island Chapter contribute approximately 5,000 volunteer hours and $4,000 in scholarships and awards in Nassau County each year.
