Nassau County Sheriff’s Deputy involved in shooting in Yulee

On Sunday evening around 10:21 pm the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a male subject who lived in the Pirates Woods Sub-division area stating that he heard several gun shots in the neighborhood. A few minutes later another 911 call was received from a female at 97119 Pirates Way in Yulee, stating that her friends’ boyfriend had just come home and was shooting a gun outside. Another 911 call was received at the same address from a female inside the residence who stated they all were afraid the suspect was going to kill them.

Deputies were dispatched and observed the suspect go inside the residence with a small rifle. The suspect then came back outside on the porch with a handgun and was pointing it at the deputies. The suspect was ordered to drop the weapon, but fired several shots at the deputies instead. Deputies returned fire and struck the suspect. Nassau County Fire/Rescue was dispatched to provide medical attention, but the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is currently conducting an investigation into the shooting.
