Nassau County School District’s summer internship allowed students already interested in technology to learn more over the summer as they helped district staff prepare for the 2017-2018 school year. The internship opportunity was available to students 16 and older at all four high schools. Casey Puentes and Emily Stillwell were selected through an application process.
The interns earned community service hours for Bright Futures scholarships while being introduced to the behind-the scenes work of the cistrict’s technology departments. Casey worked with hardware technicians on a summer desktop computer project and installing and configuring new laptops and printers for the elementary schools. Emily worked on technology research and graphic design.
Due to the success of the summer program, the district plans to continue the program next summer.
