Participants take part in last year’s NCCOA’s computer training class.

Every day,10,000 people in the United States celebrate their 65th birthday. Many of these individuals are in need of programs to enhance their quality of life;however, only two percent of funding from the nation’s largest grant makers is specifically focused on senior citizens.

That’s why Nassau County Council on Aging (NCCOA) is partnering with GIVE65 to help seniors in Nassau County. GIVE65, a program of the HomeInstead Senior Care Foundation, is the nation’s first and only crowd-funding platform focused exclusively on helping nonprofit organizations raise funds to benefit seniors.

Through GIVE65, NCCOA hopes to raise $30,000 to purchase computer equipment for and offer classes at our new Computer Basics and Resource Learning Center for older adults and senior citizens who might not otherwise have access to the information and
connectivity the Internet provides. And, if NCCOA reaches its $30,000 goal, the organization will receive an additional $10,000 bonus reward from GIVE65.

“So many ofthe seniors we serve live alone without family nearby,” said NCCOA Executive Director Janice Ancrum. “Your GIVE65 donations will help seniors learn how to use computers and access the Internet to keep in touch with family and friends through email and social media. Understanding computers and the Internet will also give them online access to banking, doctors’ appointments, prescription management and more.”

While the actual Give65 Annual Crowdfunding Event is July 11 – 13, you can donate at anytime leading up to the event. To support NCCOA or learn more about our GIVE65project, visit www.give65.org/SeniorsLivingHappyHealtyLives. All donations are
