A Michael Leary Photo
December 21, 2018 4:00 p.m.
During this holiday season, we are grateful for the support given to us from our many subscribers and from our loyal advertisers. In order to allow our staff to spend time with family and friends this holiday season, we will take a brief break. We will be up and running again on January 2, 2018.
Editor’s Note: According to Michael Leary, the French named the Painted Bunting a Native American bird “nonpareil” meaning without equal. Michael grew up in Fernandina back in the days when the island was sparsely populated. As a young boy, he delighted in exploring the woods and waterways of Amelia. His deep appreciation of the island’s natural beauty is reflected in his interest in preservation of our natural environment. We thank Michael for his contribution to the Fernandina Observer.
