JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – October 8, 2018 – In its second annual partnership with Nassau County Schools, Rayonier Advanced Materials (NYSE: RYAM) celebrated Manufacturing Day with local students and community leaders Friday at its plant in Fernandina Beach. Visitors enjoyed presentations on RYAM’s operations, a “Look Around the Plant” tour and interactive “Learning Labs” about modern manufacturing with experts and engineers.“It’s so much fun to bring the community together and teach kids how everyday items are manufactured,” said CA McDonald, general manager at Rayonier Advanced Materials’ Fernandina Beach plant. “This is our second annual partnership with Nassau County Schools and we hope we’re making a difference by sharing the many exciting and challenging careers that the manufacturing world has to offer right here at home in Nassau County.”Manufacturing Day was created by the Founding Partner Fabricators and Manufacturers Association, International in 2012 to inspire the next generation of manufacturing leaders. Students from Fernandina Beach Middle and Yulee Middle were in attendance. They were joined by Nassau County School Superintendent Dr. Kathy Burns, along with a representative from Congressman Rutherford’s office.

The “Learning Labs” covered a variety of topics, from cellulose end-products—like tires, filters and LCD screens—to pulping operations. Teachers will receive a printed toolkit complete with lesson plans and activities to further expand their students’ knowledge of manufacturing and it’s many career opportunities. The toolkit can be found online atwww.manufacturingtoolkit.com.

We appreciate the community support shown by RYAM for their continued support of Sounds on Centre, our downtown home-grown concert series of the Historic Fernandina Business Association.
