This prestigious National award has previously been awarded to civilians and law enforcement officers in recognition of keeping students, staff and schools safe. Out of forty nominees, only seven were awarded this honor.

“What a huge honor it is to work in Nassau County schools and share in the lives of our youth and then be recognized by the SSAC for my efforts. It is one of the greatest accomplishments of my career” exclaimed Doc, who has 19 years with the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office.

Doc was also recently honored with an appointment as the new Treasurer for the Florida Association of School Resource Officers (FASRO).

NACDAC would like to thank Deputy Doc McDonald for his continued outstanding dedication and service of protecting our youth, schools and communities.

NACDAC’s mission is to educate and be a leader in community collaboration to eliminate drug, tobacco, and alcohol use among our youth/young adults while reducing criminal behavior associated with substance abuse. Congratulations Deputy McDonald. Establishing a positive rapport with students is an excellent way to overcome some of the fears, anxiety and negative stereotypes that youth have with law enforcement officers.

Congratulations Doc, your hard work and dedication makes this a well-deserved award.

For those who don’t know, Doc is a second generation law enforcement officer. I had the pleasure of working for his dad (a Jacksonville Police Sergeant) who set an example of public service, dedication and lifelong learning. The same traits Doc displays today.

Doc – I’m sure your dad would be proud!
