The Fernandina Observer welcomes the following businesses newly licensed to operate in our city last month. Four of these businesses were out-of-state insurance companies: American Colonial Insurance Company, HDI Global Insurance Company, Sussex Insurance Company, and Zurich American Insurance Company. New local businesses appear below.
During June 2016, the city surveyed 283 permits, compared with 282 surveyed during June 2015. This activity brought the city $140,712 in fees. Permits were issued for 10 new buildings. In June 2015, only 5 permits were issued for new buildings, all residential.
Building permits for the first 6 months of 2016 are running far ahead of last year, 1,808 to 1,505.
