Just minutes ago, the U. S. Senate confirmed Judge Brian Davis’ appointment to serve as a U.S. District Judge from the Middle District of Florida.  Both Florida Senators Bill Nelson, and Marco Rubio voted in the affirmative.  The final vote was 68 for and 26 against the nomination.

The Fernandina Observer will continue to update this story.

Congratulations Most Honorable Judge Brian Davis for your Federal Judgeship. You have served us well and will be missed. You have been a very positive image and mentor for the residents of Nassau County. I am extremely proud of your accomplishments and the wisdom you displayed when making decisions. I am confident that you will continue to serve us with honor and integrity. It is my prayer that God will lead and directed you with great wisdom in all cases that come before you. I am excited that I have never had a reaaon to appear before you or any other judge. However, I am thrilled that whenever I randomly see you shopping in the stores or getting your lunch you have been kind enough to hold a conversation with a stranger who talks to you without even sharing her name. I am grateful for your time and your service. God bless you always.

What amazes me is that there were 28 nay votes for such a highly qualified judicial nominee, a nominee who had to wait an inordinate amount of time for Senate consideration.
