Island Chamber Singers 2016 Spring Concert

The Island Chamber Singers will perform composer John Rutter’s Mass of the Children with the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus on Friday, April 15, and Sunday, April 17, at Amelia Plantation Chapel. Accompanied by an orchestra and soloists David Scheininger and Glynis Wood, the 50-member adult chorus will be joined by 30 singers from the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus for a rare performance of this work, which debuted at Carnegie Hall in 2003. The Mass will be sung in Latin and English, with interplay between the adults, children and soloists. Musical Director Jane Lindberg, founder of the Island Chamber Singers, will lead the performance, which marks the 12th season for the group.

Island SingersFeatured in the second half of the concert will be some favorites by Rutter, including “When the Saints Go Marching In,” “The Lord Bless You and Keep You,” and I Will Sing with the Spirit.”

The concerts will take place at Amelia Plantation Chapel, 36 Bowman Road, Amelia Island, on Friday, April 15, at 7 pm and Sunday, April 17, at 3 pm. An opening night reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall immediately following Friday evening’s performance.
