Introducing a simpler, streamlined Community Development Department application process

City of Fernandina Beach Press Release

Submitted by Adrienne Burke, City Planner

Starting mid-August, you will see new and improved forms for permit, planning and business-related applications processed through the Community Development Department (CDD). CDD handles applications for a variety of topics in building, planning, and community development services, from business tax receipts to tree removal to building single-family homes.

To make the forms easier to identify, all applications have been placed in one of three categories: permits, planning, or business. As part of identifying categories, CDD also identified where forms could be combined or eliminated in order to reduce the number of applications. CDD further reviewed the forms to remove information that is not necessary or outdated, and include updated information. All forms have been made to look similar, provide key information such as fees, contacts, and timelines, use 8.5” x 11” paper, and not require color printing.

As always, CDD Staff are available to answer any questions, especially about the new forms as you get used to them. Please call 904-277-7325 for assistance. The forms are available on the City’s website  under “City Forms” or at the Community Development Department at 204 Ash Street.
