Fernandina City Commission Group 3 Candidate Orlando Avila announced today he has received the endorsement of former Fernandina Beach City Clerk Mary Mercer, who served not only as City Clerk, but Deputy City Clerk and City Manager Executive Assistant for the City of Fernandina Beach for a total of 17 years.
In her endorsement of Mr. Avila, Mrs. Mercer states “I have known Orlando for several years and know him to be a dedicated leader and has served our community in several capacities and I am confident he will bring that same level of dedication to serving the residents of the City of Fernandina Beach. His experience and education will serve him well as a City Commissioner, but it is his dedication to community service that will be the true asset to the City of Fernandina Beach.”
In response to the endorsement, Mr. Avila stated, “I am humbled to receive Mary’s endorsement. Her record and accomplishments during her tenure with the City of Fernandina Beach speak for themselves. And while I am grateful for her endorsement, I am most grateful for her friendship.”
