Thomas Ford, Candidate Nassau County Board of Commissioners, District

As a 7th generation Nassau County lifelong resident, I’m writing to ask for your vote on August 28 in the Republican Primary. I am running for the District 4 seat on the Nassau County Commission because I believe the County is at a crossroads and needs new leadership. Our residents deserve leaders who have studied the County over many years and who understand the unique challenges and opportunities our County faces.

Unlike my opponent, I don’t just live in a rural part of the County, I run a business here. I want our whole county to thrive and I want the West Side to do so while maintaining its rural integrity. I don’t want my children to have to leave home to find good jobs. I understand what private sector investment in our county does to create prosperity and opportunity for all while keeping our property taxes low.

I know Nassau County. I’ve always been a champion for this County and future prosperity. I understand the importance of our economy and our environment. As a fiscal conservative, I believe in small and efficient government, wise long-range land use planning, the importance of capital budgeting and prioritization and smart finance decisions that will protect your hard-earned tax dollars. I’m guided by principles, not politics.

I represent District 7 on the Florida Farm Bureau State Board of Directors, which represent 150,000 member families state wide after serving 2 years as president of the Florida Young Farmer and Rancher Leadership Committee. I am also on the board of directors for our local Nassau County Farm Bureau. For the last six years I have served on the Nassau County Soil and Water Conservation District and the last two years on the Nassau County Codes Enforcement Board and the Nassau County Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee.

I want to earn your trust by doing what is best for our county and our future. I am a hard worker, problem solver, and a leader, not a follower. And I believe that is what Nassau County needs more of now. I hope you, your family and friends will vote on August 28 and I would be honored to have your vote and serve you on the County Commission.

Editor’s Note:  Candidate Ford faces Incumbent George Spicer and Write-In-Candidate William (Bill) Kruse in the November General Election.
