The First Tee program has been brought to Nassau County in a cooperative program with Boys & Girls Clubs of Nassau County. First Tee is a national organization, headquartered in St Augustine, that is dedicated to impacting youngsters with an educational program aimed at building character, instilling life-enhancing values and healthy choices through the game of golf. Its mission statement could equally be applied to Boys & Girls Clubs. Through the leadership of local volunteer, Geof McKisson, First Tee has offered teen members of the local Boys & Girls Clubs several sessions of golf instruction, coupled with lessons in how the ethics of the game of golf apply to everyday life.

With the generous support of Amelia River Golf Club and The Golf Club of Amelia Island this program will be continued with sessions each Wednesday beginning September 19th through October 24th. Teens interested in participating can call the Roberts Boys & Girls Club at 491-9102 or the Miller Boys & Girls Club at 261-1075.
