Fernandina Beach Fire/Rescue has just issued a “Red High Hazard” alert noting a rough surf and strong rip currents. This lowers the risk level from the previous warning which prevented swimmers from entering the water.
A word of caution from fire/rescue, “Knee deep is too deep.”
