Fernandina Beach Police seeks help to identify trident thief

DSCN0729 UprightedDuring the early morning hours of May 12, a trident was stolen from the hand of King Neptune god of the sea, a South Fletcher Avenue landmark located near the Simmons Road intersection. According to property owner Dan Ward, this is the second time the trident has been stolen.

The City of Fernandina Beach Police is seeking your help for information and the identity of the two individuals pictured below.  The individual in the dark shirt is the one who allegedly stole the trident.

This is so sad . .. I hope that the thieves are located and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Perhaps Mr Ward might think about getting a better camera with a direct shot on the Statue, although it is unfortunate that he needs to consider this.

I now understand he did install a camera and is in possession of better pictures of the criminals. Certainly makes sense after the first theft.
