Elizabeth Pointe Lodge sold

Submitted by Susan Hardee Steger

Elizabeth Pointe LodgeThe award winning Elizabeth Pointe Lodge is now in the hands of Jim and Gaye Dunlop according to previous owner David Caples.  New owners began operating the facility on Friday, January 31.

Caples and his wife Susan opened the then newly constructed bed and breakfast in the spring of 1992.  Since that time, Caples estimates he and his wife have welcomed 320,000 guests.

The Elizabeth Pointe Lodge began as a 25 room facility and throughout the years expanded its footprint to adjacent properties offering 4 additional rooms in the Ocean Cottage and 1 room in the Miller Cottage.

Although no longer associated with the Elizabeth Pointe Lodge, Caples said he and his wife will remain in the area.  As a commercial real estate broker, Caples will continue to be involved as a principal partner in Bed  & Breakfast for Sale, and with Lodging Resources Partners where he serves as a consultant and trainer for innkeepers or those interested in joining the profession. He will remain on the Nassau County Tourism and Development Board.

A 2014 award from Travel and Leisure Magazine ranked the Elizabeth Pointe Lodge 2nd on a list of the World’s Best Top Inns and Small Lodges in the Continental United States.

My best to Susan and David!
Examples of quality leadership
in business (ELP) and non-profit
(Katie Ride) for us all.

Thanks for your leadership on both!
