Over 200 people attended the Saturday afternoon grand opening celebration for the Egans Creek Park. A private public partnership between 8 Flags Playscapes and the City of Fernandina Beach was formed in May of 2015 to develop a much improved public park accessible to all. Included in the park is a 1/4 walking path, fitness equipment, a meditation labyrinth, covered picnic area, fishing platform and kayak launch.
Lighting will allow usage of the park in the evening hours. According to Aaron Morgan, president of 8 Flags Playscape, there are still elements of the park that are not completed.
Editor’s Note: Volunteers, partners, and donors involved in the effort to bring to the community a greatly enhanced public park should be congratulated. Many of us drove by the park during construction and witnessed the dedication and hard work necessary to complete this project.
