The Fernandina Beach 2014 Babe Ruth 14U All Stars are state champions after completing a three game sweep at the state tournament in Tallahassee. The Pirates won in dominating fashion outscoring their opposition 22-1 in the three tournament games. Their victory earned them a trip to the Southeast Regional Tournament held last week in Newton, North Carolina, where they placed third.
On August 6, the team rode with Amelia Island Trolleys for a victory lap between the ballpark on Beech Street and the Fernandina Beach downtown area.
Even the Fernandina Beach City Commission recessed its Budget Workshop in order to stand outside City Hall and congratulate our local All Stars.
The staff of the Fernandina Observer adds its congratulations to the players and coaches of this year’s championship team!
