BuyGo to help Irma victims – Saturday, September 23

Submitted by Marianna McIntyre

If you or someone you know are a Nassau County resident and are still struggling following Irma, we are happy to be a small source of relief.

Join us at the BuyGO parking lot at 22 S. 8th Street, Fernandina Beach, (the former Fred’s Store), to pick up some free supplies on Saturday, September 23, after 9am.

We have partnered with several groups, such as Barnabus, to bring some much needed hurricane Irma relief to Nassau County families.

We anticipate items such as water, baby supplies, canned goods and more to be available in this shipment.

The Back Story:

BuyGO and CMD Trailers are both owned by Nassau County residents and were thrilled to hear from Tom Hahn, President of Trailstar International of Alliance, Ohio saying they wanted to help following Irma.

Trailstar makes custom trailers for big rigs, and CMD sells them in Jacksonville. Since CMD had several being delivered, Tom and his Team wanted to fill them with things that might help Nassau County Familes in need. Even the business and surrounding community of Alliance – including their schools – got involved!! Awesome, right?

So we called our community partners at Barnabus, and they are happy to help us make sure things get organized at BuyGO, and get to the folks who need them most.
It doesn’t get any better than that.

If you are interested in helping as a community volunteer, we could sure use some help with this project. Just be at the blue volunteer tent at BuyGO at 8 am on Saturday in comfortable gear to help unload and handout supplies. Thanks so much.
