Nassau County Fire Rescue and the Forestry Service are working to contain a brush fire behind Lowe’s in Yulee. The area affected is north of State Road 200, between Barnwell Road and O’Neil Scott Road. Drivers are being urged to stay away if possible.
The Board of County Commissioners have called a Special Meeting for 4:30 this afternoon (or as soon thereafter as possible) to discuss implementing a local burn ban. More info to follow.
Editor’s Note: Nassau County commissioners did implement a local burn ban until April 7. Burning of yard debris and trash is prohibited. Cooking on attended barbeque equipment is allowed.
