Nassau County School Board, District 5

Lissa Braddock

Lissa Braddock is a candidate for Nassau County School Board, District 5; however, she is not a newcomer to the education arena. She taught language arts (reading and writing) in Nassau County middle schools for 34 years, the last 25 in Callahan.

She met her husband Ronnie, a Callahan boy, in Arkansas where they were both college athletes. They raised their 4 children in Nassau County public schools. Most of Braddock’s family have been teachers, coaches, and administrators in this county including Ronnie’s two brothers, Donnie and Dale, sister-in-law Carol, and niece Blake. Daughter Lauren teaches science and has been the cheerleading coach at CMS for 11 years. Erin also taught at CMS, and Natalie teaches FL Virtual School World History. 7 of their grandchildren currently attend our public schools. When her husband Ronnie passed away last October, the Port Authority Commissioners unanimously appointed his wife of 45 years,
Lissa, to finish his term as Commissioner for the NC Ocean Highway and Port Authority, District 5 where he served for 17 years. It was her public service as a Commissioner that convinced her to put her knowledge and expertise back into the school system where she devoted her adult life, this time as a school board member!

Lissa Braddock is not an outsider looking in. She understands the pressing issues on a more intimate level as she has experienced them first hand. She intends to be an advocate for teachers (who deserve a planning period), students and parents, as well as the entire non-instructional staff.

Her goals include
*Working with the Sheriffs Department and state officials implementing safety measures in school
*Ensuring Nassau County Schools grow with our expanding county
*Bringing back trade school opportunities
*Collaborating with supporting our teachers to make sure Nassau
County Public Schools stay “A rated” in the State of Florida *Using state funding appropriately to maximize student gains

Please support Lissa Braddock in the primary election on August 28.

Editor’s Note: Braddock faces incumbent Jonathan Petree in the District 5 School Board race.   All voters will be eligible to vote in this race which will be decided on August 28.
