She also knows over 200 tricks, says her trainer and companion, Fernandina Beach High School student Nichole Curry. Now Joey’s adding another skill to her resume: fundraising for a favorite cause.
Joey was a star attraction at Friends of the Library’s “Pony Up and Party” fundraiser last year at Littleberry Farm just over the Shave Bridge from Amelia Island. There she met photographer and library supporter, Steve Leimberg, who asked her to model for him. In one photo Joey’s perusing a handbook on horses, perhaps to elevate her role in the barn.

Joey and Nichole are such great fans of the library they offered to help raise funds for FOL. They’ll be stationed by the Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market on North Seventh Street, Saturday, September 19. Joey will be ‘pawtographing’ her portrait which includes a few of Nichole’s training tips on the back. The farmers market is open from 9am to 1pm. Stop by the FOL tent for a ‘pawtograph’ and give this delightful duo a well-deserved pat on the back.
