Nassau County’s Take Stock in Children Annual Light Up a Life Gala will be held on Friday, March 27, 2020, from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., at the Ritz Carlton, Amelia Island. Tickets for the Gala are on sale now and they would make a wonderful holiday gift for someone looking to contribute and support our local students enrolled in our college readiness program. This year we have expanded our mentoring workshops, along with adding more college preparation activities, and we hope that you will help support our fundraising efforts for the 33 promising low-income students who will enter the program in the spring of 2020. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available at our website, www.tsicnassau.org.

Along with a silent and live auction, a fabulous dinner at the Ritz Carlton and John Springer’s music to enjoy, we are delighted that David Baldacci will be our guest speaker at the Gala. No one needs to be reminded of his wonderful novels. However, we think his Wish You Well Foundation (www.wishyouwellfoundation.org) is equally impressive. David and his wife, Michelle, established the Foundation in 2002. The mission of the Foundation is “supporting adult and family literacy in the United States by fostering and promoting the development and expansion of new and existing literacy and education programs.” Since its inception, the Wish You Well Foundation has made donations to hundreds of programs and projects that aid in this mission.

David Baldacci has been writing since childhood, when his mother gave him a lined notebook in which to compose his stories. David has published 39 novels for adults; all have been national and international bestsellers, and several have been adapted for film and television. His novels are published in over 45 languages and in more than 80 countries, with over 130 million worldwide sales. He has also published seven novels for younger readers. He is also an accomplished and entertaining speaker.

Please join us at our annual Gala and enjoy the wisdom of David’s literacy experiences while supporting students who hope to have the same opportunity to succeed in the careers of their dreams. Music by John Springer and Rob Taylor will round out a fun filled evening.
