As part of a summer partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio, Amelia Island gave away all-expense-paid vacations to a family in each of the two landlocked markets. The vacation package includes roundtrip airfare, provided by Allegiant Air; three-night accommodations at the Residence Inn Amelia Island; ground transportation while on island; select activities, meals and more. Each family includes three children who have never seen the ocean.

On Friday, August 11, the winning five-year-old resident of Cincinnati will have the life-changing experience of seeing the ocean for the first time with her parents and two older brothers. They will visit Main Beach Park in Fernandina Beach on Friday, August 11 at 12:30 p.m. The second family, from Columbus, Ohio, arrives August 18.

The two families were selected during free beach party events held in June at Boys & Girls Clubs in Columbus and Cincinnati. The events included sandcastle building, beach blanket bingo and limbo contests, an interactive s’mores station, an educational sea turtle craft and lesson, music, snacks and more – all in a fun and colorful beach setting. A 360-degree virtual reality viewing experience also transported children to Florida for a glimpse of Amelia Island’s sandy shores and beautiful Atlantic waters.
