Editor’s note: Today’s photo is a bit different than our typical photos for “Amelia Island revealed . . .” Two morning beach walkers, Nancy Padfield and Danielle Golacinski, asked us to recognize Jay Harris who is employed by Beach Raker, a company which cleans the beaches in Fernandina.
According to Nancy and Danielle, “He really does an excellent job…cleaning from the shore to the dunes. He also greets everyone with a huge smile and a warm greeting…he is a special person.” So thank you Jay and thank you Nancy and Danielle, for appreciating clean beaches, and an individual who along with many, both paid an unpaid, work hard to keep our beaches clean.

Jay is the greatest person and does a wonderful job at the beach — we always enjoy seeing and talking with him on our dawn beach walks … Nancy and Danielle are also wonderful beach friends! Greetings from Glen, Cherry, Pat, Candis, and dogs Walker and Cooper!
Thanks, Jay, as the beach can be a sanctuary where cares are swept away by the sea breeze and the sounds of the waves on the shore. Being able to achieve that sense of relief without having to deal with trash and debris is very much appreciated. I appreciate your attention to this detail!
One of the reasons my family returns (year after year) to Fernandina as our beach destination is for its pristine, picturesque beauty! Thanks to Jay for keeping our favorite vacation spot clean and beautiful!!
