Stephan R. Leimberg, the “Bird Man of Amelia,” was the 2008 International Nikon – Popular Photography Mentor Series Grand Prize Winner.
Steve’s FACES OF AMELIA series featured portraits of Amelia Island notables such as Dickie Anderson, Charlie Taylor, Ann Coonrad, “Raven,” Ron Kurtz, Char Bachman, “Miss Marlene” Deutcher, and Kevin McCarthy. He’s created portraits of ACT notables Graham Thomas, Linda McClane, and Sinda Nichols, a book cover for poet/author Nola Perez, and portraits in the Amelia Islander of writer and film director Nadine Vaughan and Emmy winner Rick Traum. Leimberg’s portrait of author Pat Conroy (Price of Tides) is the inner back fly-cover for Conroy’s latest book, My Life In Reading and he has created portraits of Tatjana Soli (The Lotus Eaters), David Morrell (Rambo – First Blood), and Paula McClain (The Paris Wife).
Steve’s painting-like birds, flowers, and landscapes can be found in the San Jon Gallery, The Island Art Association, and the Omni Plantation Guild and Gallery.
Steve is well known for his stunning prints and postcards of birds and other Amelia Island and northeast Florida wildlife and landscapes as well as his breathtaking images of flowers. You can view more of his work at UnSeenImages.com.
Steve is a native of Wildwood, New Jersey (another barrier island). While living in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, Steve taught Estate and Business Succession Planning in the Tax Masters Programs at Temple University Law School , Villanova University Law School, and the American College.
On Amelia Island , Steve works as a professional portrait and wildlife fine arts photographer and his photographs are displayed in the Sanjon Gallery, the Island Art Association, and the Omni Plantation Guild and Gallery. Steve serves on the Board of Directors of Wild Amelia.
