Mark LeaptrotEditor’s Note: Mark Leaptrot grew up in Macon Ga. He was photographer for his high school paper, but his first real job was at a photography studio owned by the Macon Telegraph and News.

He worked under a seasoned chief photographer Danny Giland. In his senior year, he won a college art scholarship at Mercer university and later studied at Auburn University. After working for several firms and as an engineer at McDonnell Douglas, he decided to go to work as a contractor. For many years in his spare time, he was a professional wedding photographer.

He and his wife, Jenny Leaptrot have been married for 23 years.
Mark is also a professional musician and at one time was the official photographer for Grand Funk Railroad.

We thank Mark for his contribution to the Fernandina Observer.

Hay Mark, you must be another one of those Lanier High boys that ended up in Fernandina or did you happen to go to the new high school across town. At any rate, I understand besides my brother and I, there’s plenty more Macon guys living in the area now.
My brother went to Mercer and I quit school and went in the service. Later, after I returned from the service, I went to Univ of Ga. I had a Telegraph and Macn News paper route as a kid growing up in Macon.
Married a Macon girl and moved to Warner Robins. I too was a contractor for about 20 or so years building in Houston county and some in Bibb county and Perry Ga. Anyway, you did a very nice picture and my wife and myself want to thank you for it, George/June Jones
