Tornado Watch Wednesday Aug. 30, 11 am

Wind gusts are getting much higher, and Nassau County is under a tornado watch. Authorities advise residents to stay indoors and have a safe place ready (like an interior bathroom with no windows or a walk-in closet) if they hear a loud sound like a freight train bearing down on their house. The tropical storm watch remains until further notice — most likely all day. This is definitely not a day to go sightseeing on your bicycle or golf cart. Stay inside. Palm fronds and small tree limbs are flying through the air in some locations. Carpenters, masons and landscapers working outdoors are taking risks.
