Charlie George bounced into the Wednesday night Community Redevelopment Agency Advisory Board meeting like a happy man who is regenerated by getting the acting city manager stint off his back — and one bearing good news:
His first big act after getting back to his old City Engineer gig was to fire the foot-dragging firm that delayed construction of the Alachua Street and Front Street intersection for many long months. He has picked up a new firm that’s ready to start in weeks, not months.
Some details are still being worked out, but look for a more complete and formal announcement soon.
